13 April 2005, 16:04  Dollar Is Lower Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Up in Europe

The U.S. dollar fell Wednesday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.2942, up from $1.2888 late Tuesday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Tuesday included:
107.27 Japanese yen, down from 108.27;
1.1960 Swiss francs, down from 1.2025,
and 1.2347 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2394.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8929, up from $1.8861.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $428.85 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $426.65 late Tuesday.
In Zurich the bid was $428.68, up from $426.85.
Gold fell 20 cents in Hong Kong to $428.95.
Silver opened in London at $7.15 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.18.
