11 April 2005, 16:17  Dollar Is Down Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Up in Europe

The U.S. dollar fell Monday morning against other major currencies in European trading.
Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.2968, up from $1.2833 Friday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Friday included:
107.91 Japanese yen, down from 108.67;
1.1936 Swiss francs, down from 1.2065,
and 1.2255 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2292.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8893, up from $1.8708.
Gold traded in London at $428.10 bid per troy ounce, up from $425.75 late Friday.
In Zurich, the bid was $428.03, up from $425.65.
Gold rose $2.90 to close at $428.15 an ounce in Hong Kong.
Silver traded in London at $7.14 bid per troy ounce, up from $7.09.
