1 April 2005, 15:17  Dollar Rises Against Other Major Currencies in European Trading; Gold Falls

The U.S. dollar rose against other major currencies in European trading Friday.
Gold fell. The euro was quoted at US$1.2966, down from US$1.3006 Thursday.
Other dollar rates:
--107.23 Japanese yen, up from 106.80
--1.1961 Swiss francs, up from 1.1907 The British pound was quoted at US$1.8872, down from US$1.8907.
Gold traded in London at US$427.45 bid per troy ounce, down from US$427.50 on Wednesday.
In Zurich, the bid price was US$427.40, down from US$428.18.
Gold rose 70 U.S. cents in Hong Kong to close at US$427.95.
Silver opened in London at US$7.14 bid per troy ounce, down from US$7.16.
