7 March 2005, 15:45  Dollar Is Up Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Higher in Europe

The U.S. dollar rose Monday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices also were higher.
The euro was quoted at $1.3211, down from $1.3246 Friday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Friday included:
105.00 Japanese yen, up from 104.43;
1.1716 Swiss francs, up from 1.1677,
and 1.2321 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2316.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9141, down from $1.9243.
Gold traded in London at $433.60 bid per troy ounce, up from $433.30 on Friday.
In Zurich, the metal traded at $434.45, up from $433.85.
Gold rose $5.30 in Hong Kong to close at $434.75.
Silver traded in London at $7.37 bid per troy ounce, up from $7.33.
