4 March 2005, 15:21  Dollar Rises Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Falls in Europe

The U.S. dollar rose Friday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3121, down from $1.3134 late Thursday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Thursday included:
105.30 Japanese yen, up from 104.90;
1.1801 Swiss francs, up from 1.1773,
and 1.2444 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2460.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9071, down from $1.9097.
Gold traded in London at $429.65 bid per troy ounce, down from $430.30 late Thursday.
In Zurich, the bid was $429.28, down from $431.38.
Gold fell $3.40 in Hong Kong to $429.45.
Silver opened in London at $7.18 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.21.
