31 March 2005, 15:47  Dollar Mixed Against Other Major Currencies in European Trading; Gold Rises

The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Thursday.
Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at US$1.2948, down from US$1.2959 Wednesday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Wednesday:
--106.86 Japanese yen, down from 107.37
--1.1962 Swiss francs, up from 1.1947
--1.2124 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2175
The British pound was quoted at US$1.8812, down from US$1.8819.
Gold traded in London at US$427.50 bid per troy ounce, up from US$426.30 on Wednesday.
In Zurich the bid price was US$427.40, up from US$426.50.
Gold rose 60 U.S. cents in Hong Kong to close at US$427.25.
Silver traded in London at US$7.08 bid per troy ounce, up from US$7.00.
