3 March 2005, 16:05  Dollar Is Mixed Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Rises in Europe

The U.S. dollar was mixed Thursday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.3135, up from $1.3121 Wednesday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Wednesday included:
104.91 Japanese yen, up from 104.85;
1.1763 Swiss francs, up from 1.1752,
and 1.2418 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2408.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9100, up from $1.9094.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $433.25 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $431.60 on Wednesday.
In Zurich the bid price rose to $432.53 from $431.08.
Gold rose $2.80 in Hong Kong to close at $432.85.
Silver opened in London at $7.29 bid per troy ounce, up from $7.23.
