29 March 2005, 15:28  Dollar Mixed, Gold Rises

The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday.
Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.2939, down from $1.2960 Thursday. Markets were closed Friday and Monday for the Easter holiday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Thursday:
--107.08 Japanese yen, up from 106.44
--1.1996 Swiss francs, up from 1.1990
--1.2117 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2156
The British pound was quoted at $1.8732, up from $1.8693.
Gold traded in London at $426.95 bid per troy ounce, up from $424.50 on Thursday.
In Zurich the bid price was $426.90, up from $425.10.
Gold rose $1.10 in Hong Kong to close at $427.35.
Silver traded in London at $6.92 bid per troy ounce, unchanged.
