22 March 2005, 15:42  Dollar Is Mixed, Gold Down in Europe

The U.S. dollar was mixed Tuesday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3175, down from $1.3180 Monday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Monday included: 104.92 Japanese yen, down from 105.06; 1.1778 Swiss francs, up from 1.1770, and 1.2053 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2111.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8985, up from $1.8970.
Gold traded in London at $430.65 bid per troy ounce, down from $431.05 on Monday. In Zurich, the bid price was $430.80, down from $431.60. Gold prices fell $4.80 in Hong Kong to close at $430.95.
Silver closed in London at $7.05 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.10.
