21 March 2005, 16:28  Dollar Is Higher Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Down in Europe

The U.S. dollar rose Monday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3214, down from $1.3281 Friday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Friday included:
105.23 Japanese yen, up from 104.92
1.1742 Swiss francs, up from 1.1677
and 1.2117 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2051.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9027, down from $1.9149.
Gold traded in London at $436.25 bid per troy ounce, down from $438.10 on Friday.
In Zurich, the bid was $435.40, down from $438.50.
Gold fell $1.20 in Hong Kong to close at $435.75.
Silver traded in London at $7.23 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.29.
