17 March 2005, 16:38  Dollar Is Higher Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Mixed in Europe

The U.S. dollar rose Thursday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices were mixed.
The euro fell to $1.3372, down from $1.3435 Wednesday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Wednesday includes:
104.36 Japanese yen, up from 104.07;
1.1558 Swiss francs, up from 1.1506,
and 1.2053 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2012.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9248, down from $1.9285.
Gold traded in London at $442.65 bid per troy ounce, up from $442.45 on Wednesday.
In Zurich, the bid price was $442.10, down from $443.10.
Gold rose $1.40 in Hong Kong to close at $443.45.
Silver traded in London at $7.41 bid per troy ounce, up from $7.39
