14 March 2005, 15:36  Dollar Rises Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Falls

The U.S. dollar rose Monday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3404, down from $1.3455 Friday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Friday included:
104.81 Japanese yen, up from 103.81;
1.1567 Swiss francs, up from 1.1500,
and 1.2074 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2036.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9185, down from $1.9264.
Gold traded in London at $442.75 bid per troy ounce, down from $445.90 on Friday.
In Zurich, the bid price was $442.78, down from $444.28.
Gold rose $2.70 in Hong Kong to close at $443.15.
Silver traded in London at $7.44 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.55.
