1 March 2005, 15:44  Dollar Is Higher Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Down in Europe

The U.S. dollar rose Tuesday against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3204, down from $1.3269 Monday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Monday included:
104.26 Japanese yen, up from 104.18;
1.1633 Swiss francs, up from 1.1585,
and 1.2348 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2305.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9204, down from $1.9258.
Gold traded in London at $434.65 bid per troy ounce, down from $436.38 on Monday.
In Zurich the bid was $434.70, down from $437.30.
Gold fell $2.20 in Hong Kong to close at $434.45.
Silver traded in London at $7.28 bid per troy ounce, down from $7.35. (s)
