8 February 2005, 16:22  Dollar Higher Against Other Major Currencies in European Trading; Gold Falls

The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday morning. Gold fell.
The euro was quoted at US$1.2744, down from US$1.2835 Monday.
Other dollar rates:
--105.67 Japanese yen, up from 104.40
--1.2237 Swiss francs, up from 1.2152
--1.2565 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2545
The British pound was quoted at US$1.8546, down from US$1.8660.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of US$411.50 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, down from US$413.90 on Monday.
In Zurich the bid price was US$411.28, down from US$414.55.
Gold fell US$1.60 in Hong Kong to close at US$412.75.
Silver opened in London at US$6.51 bid per troy ounce, down from US$6.63.
