7 February 2005, 16:54  Dollar Higher Against Other Major Currencies in European Trading; Gold Mostly Falls

The dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold mostly fell. The euro was quoted at US$1.2851, down from US$1.2947 Friday.
Other dollar rates:
--104.50 Japanese yen, up from 103.70
--1.2123 Swiss francs, up from 1.2034
--1.2541 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2485
The British pound was quoted at US$1.8698, down from US$1.8854.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of US$414.50 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from US$414.40 on Friday.
In Zurich the bid price was US$414.05, down from US$414.95.
Gold fell US$2.00 in Hong Kong to close at US$414.35.
Silver opened in London at US$6.58 bid per troy ounce, down from US$6.61.
