4 February 2005, 15:38  Dollar, Gold Down in European Trading

The U.S. dollar fell Friday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices were mixed.
The euro was quoted at $1.2969, up from $1.2958 Thursday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Thursday included:
103.91 Japanese yen, down from 104.61;
1.2018 Swiss francs, down from 1.2025,
and 1.2428 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2433.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8838, up from $1.8797.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $416.50 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, down from $416.85 on Thursday.
In Zurich the bid was $416.25, up from $416.05.
Gold fell $4.30 in Hong Kong to close at $416.35.
Silver opened in London at $6.61 bid per troy ounce, down from $6.63.
