17 February 2005, 17:28  Dollar firms broadly after US jobless claims data

The dollar firmed on Thursday, after a report on jobless claims pointed to stronger than anticipated labor market conditions.
Initial U.S. jobless claims for the latest week were 302,000, lower than economists' forecasts for 315,000.
The euro initially slipped to session lows around $1.3022 according to data from around $1.3043 shortly before the report and slightly lower than its levels late on Wednesday in New York.
Against the yen the dollar initially pushed up to session highs around 105.78 yen, up from around 105.55 yen shortly before the report and up about 0.3 percent.
