27 January 2005, 15:47  U.S. Dollar Rises Against Most Other Major Currencies in European Trading; Gold Prices Fall

The U.S. dollar rose Thursday morning against most other major currencies in European trading.
Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.3044, down from $1.3064 Wednesday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Wednesday included:
103.44 Japanese yen, up from 102.98;
1.1851 Swiss francs, up from 1.1847,
and 1.2368 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2315.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8807, up from $1.8803.
Gold traded in London at $426.30 bid per troy ounce, down from $426.65 late Wednesday.
In Zurich, the bid was $425.90, down from $427.00. Gold rose $3.90 in Hong Kong to close at $426.75.
Silver traded in London at $6.80 bid per troy ounce, up from $6.76.
