13 January 2005, 12:37  Dollar Regains Overnight Losses Against Yen in Asian Trading

The U.S. dollar recovered some of its overnight New York losses against the yen in Asian trading early Thursday.
The dollar bought 102.54 yen by late morning in Tokyo, down 0.70 yen from late Wednesday but above the 102.38 yen it bought in New York overnight.
The euro rose to US$1.3248 from US$1.3117, while it also rose against the Japanese currency, to 135.90 yen from 135.44 yen.
The dollar also edged down against most other regional currencies in early trading from previous day levels, declining against the Hong Kong dollar, South Korean won and Philippine peso.
After beginning the new year with a rally, the dollar fell against major currencies overnight after data showed that the U.S. trade deficit widened in November.
Players are also viewing recent remarks by U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow as a sign the administration is taking a hands-off approach to the dollar.
