17 December 2004, 16:41  Dollar Mixed Against Other Major Currencies, Gold Is Up in Europe

The U.S. dollar was mixed Friday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose in Europe.
The euro was quoted at $1.3298, down from $1.3310 late Thursday.
Other dollar rates compared with late rates Thursday included: 104.13 Japanese yen, down from 104.20; 1.1546 Swiss francs, up from 1.1532, and 1.2295 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2366.
The British pound was quoted at $1.9381, up from $1.9365.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $439.20 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $438.40 late Thursday. In Zurich the bid price was $438.88, up from $438.33.
