25 November 2004, 13:50  Slower German export growth seen in 2005 - BGA

BERLIN, Nov 25 - The president of Germany's BGA foreign and wholesale trade association said on Thursday he expected German exports to grow by lower than currently forecast in 2005 due to the weakness of the dollar against the euro.
"We must probably go down to around five percent in 2005," Anton Boerner said in a telephone interview with . The BGA is currently forecasting export growth next year of around seven percent.
However, Boerner said he did not believe the forecast for this year, of 9.5 to 10 percent export growth, needed to be changed.
Boerner added he believed the euro would peak at around $1.35 this year and could reach $1.40 in 2005.
However, he said the dollar's weakness was no cause for exporters to panic. "We can manage," he said.
