23 November 2004, 14:50  Euro, oil hurting Italy industry - deputy minister

ROME, Nov 23 - The strong euro and high oil costs are combining to pull down Italian exports, Deputy Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said on Tuesday.
The minister issued a statement expressing his "strong concern," following trade data for October released earlier on Tuesday which showed a 7.5 percent annual drop in exports to countries outside the European Union.
"The grip of the euro and oil costs is damaging the growth of our exports to non-EU countries and also hurting us on the European market, where our products are losing price competitiveness compared with those imported from outside the EU," Urso said.
