21 October 2004, 12:18  Dollar hits new lows vs euro, Swissie and yen

The dollar fell to its lowest level against the euro since late February on Thursday as concerns about the U.S. economy and growing trade deficit fuelled fresh selling of the greenback. In a session with no fundamental news, the dollar fell a low of $1.2639 per euro, its lowest since late February. Against the Swiss franc it hit a nine-month low of 1.2161 francs . The greenback hit a four-month low against yen of 107.52 . "We've had a combination of weak payrolls and trade deficit data, Fed speakers talking the dollar down, and oil prices near record highs... All of these are negative for the dollar," said Marios Maratheftis, currency strategist at Standard Chartered.|||
