10 June 2004, 14:39  Clement - German '04 growth could exceed 1.5%

German Economy Minister Wolfgang Clement said on Thursday it was possible that the country's economy could grow more than the government's forecast of 1.5 percent this year. "In my view that can definitely be the case," Clement told reporters in Berlin when asked if growth may outstrip the government's prediction. "It would be nice if this optimism took hold in Germany," Clement said, referring to economic institute DIW which on Wednesday doubled its forecast for second-quarter growth to 0.6 percent. "The facts make me confident," said Clement.|||
