Consumer confidence in Japan improved in the three months to March as workers felt better about jobs and incomes, a government survey showed on Tuesday.
The Cabinet Office said its quarterly survey of 5,040 households resulted in a rise its consumer sentiment index by 1.9 points from October-December to 42.5, seasonally adjusted.
It was the fourth straight quarter of improvement in the index.
Of the index components, sentiment improved for job conditions, living standards, a rise in income and a decision to buy durable goods.
Sentiment on the outlook for prices fell, indicating that those surveyed expected prices to rise.
The survey was conducted on March 15.///
