German unemployment rose by 26,000 in seasonally adjusted terms in February, a source who has seen the data told on Thursday. The rise contrasts with forecasts of a decline by 10,000, according to a poll of 31 analysts . The source said that the adjusted unemployment rate rose to 10.3 percent in February from 10.2 percent in January. In unadjusted terms, unemployment rose 43,600 to 4.641 million. The unadjusted jobless rate was 11.1 percent, up from 11.0 percent. The Federal Labour Office, which is due to announce the figures at around 0900 GMT, will say that the most recent rise in unemployment shows that government labour market policies failed in February to offset negative cyclical factors, the source said.////
