House prices in Britain rose 1.6 percent last month to stand 17.8 percent higher in the latest three months compared to a year ago, the Halifax bank said on Wednesday. A month ago the country's largest mortgage lender reported a monthly rise of 2.2 percent in January to give a year-on-year increase of 16 percent.///
