16 March 2004, 09:18  BOJ keeps view Japan economy in gradual recovery

The Bank of Japan kept its economic assessment unchanged in a monthly report on Tuesday, saying the economy was in a gradual recovery. "Japan's economy is recovering gradually," it said in its economic report for March, using the same wording in its headline phrase as in the previous month. The central bank raised its view on personal consumption, saying this was showing some positive movements. It also said capital spending continued to recover, a slight improvement from its view last month that capital spending was recovering gradually. Earlier, the BOJ's Policy Board decided to keep its monetary policy unchanged.////www.reuters.com
