9 February 2004, 13:31  Eurogroup seen happy with G7 communique

BRUSSELS, Feb 9 - Finance ministers from the euro zone will probably be satisfied with this weekend's communique from the Group of Seven leading financial nations, a source from the presidency of the Eurogroup said on Monday. Finance ministers from the 12-nation euro zone meet later on Monday in Brussels. "The Eurogroup will probably be quite satisfied with the comminique," a source from the Irish presidency told reporters. "They will see some reflection there of the statement they issued (last month)," the source added. On Tuesday finance ministers from the 15-nation European Union also meet, with a possible decision on who should replace retiring European Central Bank Executive Board Member Eugenio Domingo Solans. "We are open to the question of agreement being reached tomorrow or on March 9," the source said about Domingo Solans' seat, which becomes vacant at end of May. "If there is more than one candidate...it is quite likely there will be time for reflection."||www..com
