8 January 2004, 14:19 Eurozone producer prices rise 0.1% in Nov
BRUSSELS, Jan 8 - Producer prices in the euro zone
inched up by 0.1 percent in November from the previous month for
an annual increase of 1.4 percent, the European Union's
statistics office said on Thursday.
The monthly rise was slightly higher than expected by
economists. A poll of economists had forecast unchanged
producer prices in November from October while the annual rise
was forecast at 1.20 percent.
The energy sector was the only sector to show a decline in
monthly prices, down 0.1 percent from October.
But compared with November last year, energy prices were 3.4
percent higher, reflecting the continued stickiness of oil
prices over $30 a barrel.//
