30 January 2004, 12:07  Eurozonу investment inflow subsides in Nov

FRANKFURT, Jan 30 - Investment capital flowed into to euro zone in November but at a much slower pace than in the previous month, European Central Bank data showed on Friday. Combined direct and portfolio investment showed net inflows of 2.2 bln euros in November after inflows of 16.2 billion euros in October. The October inflows were revised down from an earlier reported figure of 18.2 bln euros.
Portfolio investment showed a large swing, with net outflows of 4.3 billion euros, after net inflows of 26.7 billion euros in October. This was largely because euro zone residents bought foreign securities at a large scale, predominantly debt securities, the ECB said. Direct investment showed 6.5 billion euros net inflows, largely due to equity capital investment in the euro area from investors outside the bloc, after a net 10.6 billion euros in outflows in October. The current account surplus narrowed to 4.4 bln euros from 9.3 billion euros in October. ||www.reuters.com
