15 January 2004, 09:30 Tokyo stocks end down on Intel report, dollar fall
TOKYO, Jan 15 - Japanese stocks fell on Thursday as a dip in the dollar overnight and a weak outlook by U.S. chip giant Intel Corp prompted investors to unload shares in exporters and chip-related firms such as Advantest Corp <6857.T>.
Traders said falls in Nasdaq futures on Globex, indicating a weak session on Wall Street on Thursday, curbed any gains in the Japanese stock market.
The benchmark Nikkei average <.N225> closed down 1.82 percent at 10,665.15. Traders said large-lot selling in Nikkei futures was spotted, pushing the Nikkei down further in the last hour of trade.
The broader TOPIX <.TOPX> index slipped 1.26 percent to 1,044.57.//
