14 January 2004, 12:07  Dollar rises 1% on day vs Swiss franc

LONDON, Jan 14 - The dollar rose one percent on the day against the Swiss franc on Wednesday as markets took profits on the greenback's recent losses after European policymakers expressed concerns over its weakness this week. By 0902 GMT, the dollar rose to around 1.2342 francs as the greenback posted gains of close to one percent against the euro as well. "The dollar is having a bit of a pullback. Even though we are looking for further dollar weakness this year, we have had some very significant moves so far over the last few weeks and it's due at least a temporary pullback," said David Mann, foreign exchange strategist Standard Chartered. "Also recent policy maker comments...have given hints that too volatile moves are something they are not comfortable with."//
