30 December 2003, 10:26  German trade surplus widens to record in 2003

BERLIN, Dec 30 - Germany's trade surplus with the rest of the world widened to a record this year as Europe's biggest economy exported more goods than ever before, preliminary data showed on Tuesday. The trade surplus increased by two percent to 135 billion euros, from 132.8 billion euros in 2002, the Federal Statistics Office said. Exports rose by two percent to 664 billion euros, while imports also increased by two percent, to 529 billion euros, it said.//
