2 October 2003, 17:38  US stocks ease at open after Wednesday's climb

NEW YORK, Oct 2 - Stocks dipped at Thursday's opening bell as investors paused following a rally of more than 2 percent on Wall Street a day earlier and kept up their guard ahead of Friday's closely watched jobs report for September. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dipped 3 points, or 0.20 percent, to 1,828. The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> eased 16 points, or 0.17 percent, to 9,453. The broad Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> shed 1 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,016.//
