WASHINGTON, July 7 - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan will appear on July 15 before a House of Representatives panel to deliver his semiannual monetary testimony. The Fed chief will appear before the House Financial Services Committee at 10 a.m. (1400 GMT), according to an announcement from the committee.
In keeping with tradition, Greenspan will highlight the U.S. central bank's economic outlook and will take questions from the committee about the economy and monetary policy. In an effort to lift the sluggish U.S. economy and guard against deflation, the Fed on June 25 cut the bellwether fed funds interest rate for overnight loans between banks to a 45-year low of 1 percent.//
