23 July 2003, 11:06  Italy had non EU-trade surplus in June

ROME, July 23 - Italy recorded a trade surplus of 648 million euros with countries outside the European Union in June, official statistics agency Istat said on Wednesday. That compares with a surplus of 405 million euros in May and a surplus of almost 1.5 billion euros in June 2002. For the month, imports climbed 2.4 percent year-on-year while exports slid 5.8 percent from June 2002. So far in 2003, Italy's accumulated trade balance with countries outside the EU stands at a 123 million euro surplus.//
