27 June 2003, 13:49  Eurozone trade deficit hits E1.0bn

The eurozone seasonally adjusted current account recorded a deficit of E1.0bn in April, compared to a surplus of E0.3bn in the year-earlier period, according to the European Central Bank. The April figure compares to a deficit of E1.5bn in March. April's deficit reflects the E7.1bn deficit registered for income and the E5.3bn deficit for current transfers, which were not fully offset by the E11.0bn surplus for goods and the E0.3bn surplus for services, the ECB said. In unadjusted terms the account registered a deficit of E8.1bn, compared to a surplus of E1.4bn in March, the ECB said. //www.fxcentre.com
