17 June 2003, 15:34  UK house prices fall, but at slower pace

House prices in England and Wales fell fell for a fourth consecutive month in May but the pace of decline eased, according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. A net balance of 25pc of 285 chartered surveyors questioned said prices had fallen in the latest three months, a modest improvement on the net 29pc that found prices falling in the three months to April.
This easing pace of decline marks the first improvement since the slowdown in UK house prices began last September. Confidence among surveyors hit a six-month high, with 13pc more saying they expected sales to improve in the future compared with those who expected activity to slow. //www.fxcentre.com
