6 May 2003, 11:11 French Q2 industry demand seen worsening
PARIS, May 6 - Following are economists' reactions
to data issued on Tuesday by national statistics office INSEE
showing total industry demand is expected to worsen in the second
quarter.
GUILHEM SAVRY, ECONOMIST, CDC IXIS
"The trend confirms our forecasts in terms of economic
activity. We will have a quite good first quarter as a
correction of a slow the activity in the last quarter of 2002
because of a series of bank holidays.
"But the second quarter will be bad because of the rise of
the euro, geopolitical tensions and no real rebound in the US."//
