BERLIN, May 5 - The German Federal Labour Office said on Monday it expected a sharp fall in the unadjusted April jobless total due to seasonal factors. "As usual in April there was a clear decline in unemployment," a spokesman for the Federal Labour Office told . The spokesman declined to comment on whether the jobless total would be above or below 4.5 million. The Federal Labour Office will publish the April jobless data on Wednesday.
Economists polled by expect the jobless total in Europe's largest economy to rise by 41,700 in April, when adjusted for seasonal factors, after hitting a five-year high of 4.414 million in March. This would push the jobless rate to 10.7 percent from 10.6 percent in March . A report in Sunday newspaper Welt am Sonntag cited Federal Labour Office exports as saying the jobless total when not adjusted for seasonal factors fell to 4.52 million in April from 4.608 million in March, but was still the highest unadjusted figure for April since unification in 1990.//
