President George Bush has called on Congress to pass his sweeping tax cut as the US unemployment rate rose to 6.0 pc. "We need a bold economic recovery package so people can find work," Bush said in a speech at United Defense Industries. "That 6 pc number should say loud and clear to both political parties in the United States Congress we need robust tax relief so our fellow citizens can find a job," Bush said. The speech focused on the economy comes one day after Bush declared in a dramatic speech aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln that the war in Iraq yielded "one victory in a war on terror." Bush turned to the economy, widely seen as essential for his re-election bid in 2004.
"Here at home we've got challenges to face," Bush said, "the economy is not growing fast enough." //www.fxcentre.com
