29 April 2003, 16:45  Eurozone Feb current a/c surplus falls

The eurozone current account surplus was E3.2bn in February compared with a surplus of E4.7bn a year ago, according to figures released today by the European Central Bank (ECB). The lower surplus resulted from a E3.0bn increase in the income deficit and a slight decrease in the goods surplus, which more than offset the lower deficits for both services and current transfers, the ECB said.
It said the capital account balance switched from a E400m surplus to a E0.9bn. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the current account had a E1.9bn surplus in February compared with a surplus of E2.2bn in January. //www.fxcentre.com
