His remarks came in testimony to the Treasury Committee in the U.K. House of Commons. On the central bank's preparations to adopt the euro, if the government decides to join: ``We're as well prepared as we can be. If the decision were to go in that would require an intensified effort'' both by the central bank and other City of London financial institutions. ``We're identifying all the technical questions which can be addressed.''
On George's role on the ECB's general council, given Britain hasn't adopted the euro: ``The contact between us is much more extensive than just the formal attendance at the European Central Bank general council.'' George said he sees other central bankers ``more often than I see my wife.'' ``The relationship is such that we don't feel we're excluded at all from things that concern us. The relationship between us and the ECB is a very constructive one.'' //www.quote.bloomberg.com
