LONDON, March 26 - The euro held steady against the dollar on Wednesday after Germany's Ifo business climate index fell in March, coming in lower than expected. The west German business climate index stood at 88.1 in March, compared with 88.9 in February. Forecasts had been for it to remain unchanged at 88.9. Ifo President Werner Sinn said the dip dashed hopes for now for a turning point in business sentiment. The majority of firms who participated were surveyed on March 5-20, before the conflict in Iraq began. Analysts said economic data is currently being overshadowed by developments in the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
The euro was trading at to $1.0633 , unchanged from before the data was released, and slightly down on the day.//
