21 March 2003, 11:48  German producer prices up 0.4pc in Feb

Producer prices in Germany rose 0.4pc in February from January and were up 1.9pc from February last year, the Federal Statistics Office said. The producer price index - an indication of pipeline inflation - rose to 106.4 in February from 106.0 in January and from 104.4 February last year (1995 equals 100), the office said in a statement. The Statistics Office said the 1.9pc growth in February was the first such year-on-year increase since September 2001 and was mainly attributed to higher oil prices. Excluding oil, prices were only 0.8pc higher than February last year. //www.fxcentre.com
