TOKYO — Tokyo stocks closed narrowly mixed Friday, as export-oriented issues failed to expand early gains and the sluggish banking sector weighed on the overall equities market.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 3.66 points, or 0.04%, to close at 8,363.04. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) dipped 0.47 point, or 0.06%, to 818.73.//www.japantoday.com
