14 February 2003, 12:43  Bush gets budget through 4 mths late

President George Bush finally got his budget through Congress last night four months late. The USD397.4bn spending package was approved by a vote of 338-83 in the House of Representatives. Later it was passed in the Senate by a vote of 76 - 20.
The measure, which exceeds normal White House spending limits by nearly USD13bn, includes generous funding for the war on terror. The budget covers government spending up until September. It has been severely criticised by Democrats but its adoption has been warmly welcomed by President Bush and the Republicans. //www.fxcentre.com
