The number of jobless in Germany in November rose a seasonally adjusted 35,000 from October, according to figures released today by the Labour Office The figure came in ahead of forecasts, with most economists tipping an increase of 20,000. "Even seasonally adjusted... the number of jobless people has risen strongly," the Labour Office said, adding that "the economy is still too weak to revive the labour market". "Employment has risen less... than is usual at this time of the year," the Labour Office said. The total number of jobless for the whole of Germany in November was 4.03 million, up an unadjusted 236.900 from November last year. The unadjusted jobless rate in November was 9.7pc, compared to 9.4pc in October, it added. In west Germany, the number of jobless rose a seasonally adjusted 9,000 in November from October.
The unadjusted total number of jobless in the west was 2.65 million in November. The unadjusted jobless rate was 7.8pc. In east Germany, the total number of jobless in October rose a seasonally adjusted 26,000 from September, the labour office added. The unadjusted total was 1.38 million.
