17 December 2002, 14:19 OECD Expert: Risks Have Increased Germany 2003 GDP Below 1.5%
BERLIN (MktNews) - The OECD said Tuesday that doubts have emerged
over whether Germany's 2003 GDP will reach the 1.5% projection made in
November.
"The risk that (German) economic growth will be below 1.5% (next
year), have increased in recent weeks," Eckhardt Wurzel, the head of the
Germany Desk of the OECD's Economics Department said at the presentation
of the OECD's economic survey of Germany.
To achieve GDP growth of 1.5% in 2003, Wurzel said the federal
government had to push ahead with the needed structural reforms.
The 1.5% projection is the same made in its semi-annual report
published in November.
Although the OECD called for a deepening of Berlin's consolidation
course in its survey, Wurzel said "it is still possible to balance the
budget by 2006."//www.marketnews.com
